During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, as programming shifted online, the Windmore Foundation for the Arts (WFA) in Culpeper, Virginia, along with its board and community members, decided it was an opportune time to undergo a rebrand.
The WFA was founded in the spring of 1984 under the working title of Culpeper Center for the Visual and Performing Arts. The name “Windmore” was chosen to honor the dairy farm that once operated at the site of Windmore’s amphitheater.
The original logo (shown below) incorporated "wind" and nodded to the landscape of the dairy farm. WFA will celebrateed 40 years on October 3, 2024.
In the spring of 2021, a group of board members, teaching artists, students, and community members participated in design sprints to reevaluate WFA's core values and brainstorm ideas for a new logo. Below are a few logo concepts from those sessions.
